Not only, the brain but muscles also play a great role in the movement of the human body. The brain sends the signals to the muscles in the body through the complex nervous system. This helps in controlling the various muscle groups in our body. Three key muscles groups exist in our body. They are known as striated, smooth and cardiac muscles.
What makes muscles vital for a human body?
As per the known medical science, 639 muscles exist in a normal human body and each of these is also linked directly to the bones. Nevertheless, the three key categories of muscles vary in the shape and structure. In general, any medium muscle comprises of almost 10 million cells. If a close approximation is made, then the muscles in our body consist of 600 million cells and more. Muscles, in short, enable us to process the food, provide energy and help us to regulate other physical activities within the system alimentarium.
Forms of muscles
Even though there are three forms of muscles viz., striated, smooth and cardiac, there are some common factors between them. Contraction along with relaxation of these muscles creates mechanical energy, competent enough to get translated to physical movement and interior body functions. Each of these muscles has cells that remain set in groups of fibers, implanted in connective tissue and are bound together by means of intercellular substance.
Striated muscles
Striated muscles, by and large, use more energy and a take a longer time to act. It is to be noted that striated muscle tissue comprises of abundant numbers of fibers, and these are known as called fasiculi. Studies confirm that these consist of extended nucleated cells together with myofibrils in the discontinuous dark, light bands. These give the muscles a banded or striped look. Again, groups of fibers do remain analogous to each other. What is more, each does remain enclosed within a membrane and the membrane is known as perimysium.
Each whole muscle remains sheltered in a covering, and this is known as epimysium. It is covered in a mass of connective tissue along with deep fascia, prominent for separating individual muscles. It must be remembered that these muscles belong to the skeleton along with that of eyelids, soft palate, scalp, eye and various other key parts of the physical structure.
Skeletal muscles
Skeletal muscles are known for voluntary actions, but very few people do know that these remain concerned or caught up in the restraint, stance together with motions of the physical structure. The voluntary actions are walking, speaking, movement of fingers, movement of eyes, swallowing.
Skeletal muscle, apart from all of these, has the ability to join or lengthen out and have the capacity to get back their novel shape and dimension only after getting expanded. In general, a usual muscle stimulus comprises of a nerve impulse that develops from a transformation in the interior or exterior environment due to chemical, thermal or even mechanical influence.
