What are the effects of high blood pressure?

Blood pressure is the pressure of blood inside the blood vessels, or we can say the push of blood against the walls of arteries. Heart beats pump the blood into arteries, and this time the blood pressure is highest in the body, it is known as systolic pressure. When the heart is at rest (gap between two beats), blood pressure in the body falls and this pressure is known as diastolic pressure.

Blood pressure is measured in two numbers (systolic and diastolic). For e.g. if the blood pressure of a person is 140/90mmhg then the top number or first number is the systolic pressure and the bottom or second number is diastolic pressure.

The level of your blood pressure should not fall from 120/80mmhg and does not rise above 140/80mmhg. Below 120/80mmhg is low pressure and above 140/90mm hg is high blood pressure.
